List of HTML5 Game Engines
It’s been a while since we’ve posted anything about new HTML5 game engines that have been released or are currently under development. Below is a brief but useful list of some of these frameworks. Take a look, especially if you are considering making your own HTML5 game in the near future:
Isogenic Engine: The Isogenic HTML5 game engine looks very promising and will be packed with a lot of cool features and other goodies. It aims to enable developers to create isometric tile-based games, 2D side/top scroller games, platform games, 2D strategy games, and multiplayer networked and social games.
LimeJS: This HTML5 game framework was just released a few weeks ago. It has already been used to create games such as Roundball and Zlizer. It can be downloaded for free subject to the Apache License.
Game Closure: Currently in private beta, this HTML5 game framework will enable developers to create cross-platform, multiplayer games.
Impact: Already released and available for $99, the Impact HTML5 game engine has been used to create some very impressive games (see Biolab disaster and Z-type).
Akihabara: The Akihabara HTML5 game engine allows you to make old-school, pixelated 8/16-bit games that also work on mobile touch devices.
