Why is Apple in support of HTML5?

Apple has already criticized Adobe’s Flash for performance reasons; although its believed that if Flash were to be permitted on the iPhone platform, it can dethrone Apple’s own Property App Store Framework and its revenue stream. But this argument doesn’t seem to make sense to me, since Apple is also simultaneously working to get HTML5 functioning in the iPhone Platform. And because following the Google Voice App rejection from the App Store, Google did successfully evade Apple’s control and rewrite the Google Voice App in HTML5. So why is Apple still supporting HTML5 even if it risks losing the App Store revenue stream?

What would it cost Apple to add Flash to iPad?

I understand Apple thinks Flash is buggy, slow, not as good as HTML5, etc. But besides a sort of policy reasoning, does it also cost Apple to just add the functionality? Like hardware or expensive coding? Or is it just a patch they could add for relatively cheap later?
Please don’t rant about the usefullness of iPads, I’m just asking this specific question.

Apple says we should use HTML5, while the rest of the world uses Flash?

HTML5 isn’t even half baked! It is no where close to being operational.
Flash works and it is here.
Apparently Apple didn’t learn why they lost the market to PCs? They’re seem to be going down the same road again…
